Q1 Cloud Storage: Sharing in Microsoft OneDrive
Who gets your folders and Files
The Share settings of your files in your Microsoft OneDrive can be a lot like the different people in a restaurant. As a class or in groups, depending on your teacher's instructions, go through Welcome to the Kitchen! together.

Reflect on the summary below and discuss with a partner or as a class.
Before you click "Share," you need to know your options:
- Just need someone to read it? Choose Can View.
- Need feedback without them changing your words? Choose Can Review.
- Building something together? Choose Can Edit.
Shared access to files requires you to use your digital citizenship skills. When someone gives you Can Edit access, they are trusting you with their hard work. Being a good digital citizen means never deleting someone else's work without asking, using the Comments tool to suggest changes politely, and remembering that everything you type leaves a digital footprint. If an accident does happen, remember you can always use Version History to safely restore past work!
The Permissions Path Game
Let's see what you've learned about sharing settings! Group up with your classmates to play The Permission Path game. Check with your teacher on grouping instructions.
Step 1. Prep the Game.
- You will need to print out, cut, and fold the Challenge Cards (pages two, three, and four on the site linked below) needed for the game. Your teacher may already have them printed out for you.
- You will also need a copy of The Permission Path (first page on the site linked below).
- The Permissions Path Game Resources. If printing isn't available, you can access The Digital Permission Path Game here.
Step 2. One person in your group will need to open the digital dice. Select the four-sided option to use for your turns to move down the path.
Step 3. Test Your Knowledge.
- When you land on a space, a group member will read you a card from that category. You'll face questions on Ownership, Permissions, and Citizenship. Answer correctly to stay put, or move back to the last spot you were correct, if you miss it.
- Race your group to the Cloud Core!
