What’s in Your Footprint?

Before you dive in, imagine this: if a total stranger could peek at just your online activity from the last week, what would they know about you? They might figure out your favorite games, the videos you binge, or even what you’ve been shopping for.

That’s because everything you do online leaves a trail—your digital footprint. This trail is often made up of tiny trackers called cookies that websites use to track what you do.

In this Quest, you’ll practice deciding what information is safe to share and who it’s safe to share it with. Then, you’ll use what you’ve learned to help design ways to teach players in your game how to guard their online privacy.

Discussion questions to think about as you play the video below:

  • What are positive things that might be part of someone’s digital footprint?
  • What are negative things that might be part of someone’s digital footprint?

What is a Digital Footprint?

Step 1. Play Interland Mindful Mountain to practice handling personal and sensitive information on the internet. 

  • You will need to be able to choose the correct recipient without it getting to anyone not intended. 
  • Your will run through the activity until you receive your Internet Smart Certificate.
  • Open the Interland page, go to the Mindful Mountain game, and select Play.

Step 2. Once you reach the Completion page, select CLAIM CERTIFICATE.

Step 3. Take a screenshot or save a copy of your certificate to add to your Player Safety and Conduct Team portfolio.
