Completing a Job Application
A job application is a form you fill out with key information about yourself and your qualifications for a position. Turning in a completed job application is a way to introduce yourself to an employer and to formally indicate that you would like to be considered for a job.
Note: The video mentions completing a paper application, but almost all applications are now submitted online.

The 3C's
How you fill out your job application can give the employer an impression of who you are at work. Remember, when filling out a job application, practice the 3Cs:
- Careful
- Make sure to proofread your answers and fix any errors before submitting.
- Correct
All your information should be accurate and honest.
Complete
Do not leave any blank spaces. If something does not apply to you, write Not Applicable or N/A.
Common Sections on a Job Application
Below is a list of the most common sections on a job application you can expect to fill out:
- Personal Information
- Provides details about who you are and how employers can contact you
- Experience
- This can include work, volunteer, clubs, or roles that may have provided you with an opportunity to gain experience that could help you succeed in the job you are applying for
- Skills
- Specific hard and soft skills that make you a good fit for the job
- Education
- Shows the level of education and training you have completed
- References
- List people who can vouch for your character and skills.
